{Weekend Highlights} 10-17-10

Fall is my all time favorite season.

We have been  spending a lot of times outdoors ever since the brisk autumn weather has arrived.  There is just something so wonderful about donning a warm sweater or jacket and staring at the marvels Mother Nature has to offer us during the months of September, October, and November.

Many of my family's all time favorite family traditions take place during Autumn.  One of our favorites is visiting a pumpkin patch and picking pumpkins straight from the vines.  Each year, each of us goes in search of the perfect pumpkin.  We then bring them home, wash them off, and paint faces on them before setting them on our front porch as a decorative element.

This year I introduced a new "tradition"....corn mazing.  I knew once my Little Guy was old enough, that this would be something we would love to do.  The farm we go to has a 5 acres large corn maze.  We were given riddles with clues of which direction we need to go.  It was so much fun getting lost and going around in circles till we finally made it out.  Lil Diva said the moment we were done..."This is definitely something we have to do as a family tradition every year!"  And so an additional family tradition is added to our ever growing Autumn list.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Nothing Says Autumn.....

From the moment June rolls around, I start counting down the days...albeit the hours, till September arrives.  I am a total Fall kinda girl.  I love the brisk weather, warm sweaters, apple and pumpkin picking, rich fall colors, crunching leaves underfoot, the smell of outdoor chimineas going....Yes, anything and everything having to do with Autumn.

You know fall season has arrived when Starbucks brings back their Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I have been spending a lot of time at a Starbucks near the theater Lil Diva is currently working in, so imagine my delight when I saw the delicious fall drink on the board.

So at this very moment, while I am waiting for Lil Diva to get out of her rehearsals, I am happily sipping my Grande Non Fat Pumpkin Spice Latte at the local Starbucks.  Welcome Autumn!

{Getting Ready for Fall}

The heat is back in the Northeast and I am so looking forward to the cool brisk weather to come in.  I am not much of a fan of temperatures over 70° F (21° C).  During the summer, when we get those unseasonably mild days, I can't help but get excited.  This can only mean that autumn is around the corner!

Lil' Miss Diva had quite the busy schedule this weekend which required her to be occupied from 10am-5pm dancing and singing to her hearts content in a town 40 minutes from home.  Mr. Man and I decided to make a day of it and spent the day doing what I do best.....shopping!  With the temperatures at a mild for August 80° F (26° C) with a beautiful ocean breeze, I was enthusiastically looking forward to adding a few new pieces to my Fall wardrobe.  Lucky for me, the often times restless men in my life were wonderful during this all day shopping expedition.   When i entered stores they had no interest in, they busied themselves by entering gaming stores or would sit at a bench and play hand-held video games.  Since we had the whole day, the boys didn't rush me which was pure heaven!

Below are the items that made it into my wardrobe. None, of which, I paid full price for, I am happy to report.
