{Weekend Highlights} Long Holiday Weekend

What a wonderful weekend!

* Overnight road trip to Norwalk, CT to visit with lifelong friends.

* Took a detour on the way back home Saturday to the Palisades Parkway Mall where Lil Diva & I found some serious deals. (More on that later in the week).

* Attended my friend's BBQ Sunday evening.... was great to catch up & relax.

* Took in the rays & enjoyed time by the shore Sunday with a day at the beach.

* Watched the spectacular fireworks displays from the comforts of our bedroom windows. With Mr. Man having to work today, we decided to pass on heading back to the beach.

This morning, Lil Diva and I met up with one of her good friends and went to the movies.  They wanted to see Monte Carlo with Selena Gomez.  The movie was really cute.  Perfect for the tween set.  I loved the film locations(Paris & Monte Carlo).  It was a great way to still relax after the long busy weekend.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

(P.S. The cutie above....is none other than Lil Diva striking a pose at the beach, LOL.)

What Lies In Store This Week......

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Mine was really busy.... Lil Diva and Lil Man are in the final stages of preparation for their stage performance, so I have been busy getting them to and from rehearsals all weekend.  I've also been organizing myself for Lil Diva's 12th birthday, which happens to be on the very same weekend.  But that doesn't mean I didn't get to also add in some fun stuff....  I also have some fun topics to blog about this week, can't wait to get to it!  Here's a sneak peek.

* Saw not one, but two movies at the theater this weekend (will be reviewing one tomorrow).

* Snagged an awesome text message coupon for Gap and picked up two great pieces (one of which may seem like dejavu to some of you, lol) to add to my Spring wardrobe (more on that Tuesday).

* Picked up some supplies for some beautiful, but inexpensive DIY party decorations.

* Have another Martha Stewart recipe to share...this time for a very rich and delicious hot morning (afternoon, or evening) beverage.  Only one word can describe it..... decadent!

Wishing everyone a productive and exciting week ahead!

Just Checking In....

Happy Saturday!

* I haven't purchased a single thing in 29 days....even though I am very proud of that, I am itching to get to a mall...PRONTO!

* Have loaded up my iPod with new tunes I have discovered. Love it.

* Looking forward to visiting some dear friends this afternoon I haven't seen in over 6 months. Being in the company of good friends is always refreshing to the soul!

* Realized no matter how old certain people are, they never quite outgrow their high school mentality...

* Extremely happy for my Lil Diva...she has been selected to sing songs from her favorite Broadway play "WICKED" in an upcoming production.  She is over the moon....and so am I.

Don't remember honestly where I found it. If it happens to be your blog and you know, please let me know so I can give it proper credit. Thank you!

Where Did the Weekend Go?

It's hard to believe, it's already Monday!

Here are my weekend highlights:

* Took an early bus into NYC to visit my hairstylist to get a much needed haircut.

* Met up with my Mom and had a shrimp scampi over linguine lunch in City Island.

* Accompanied Mom to a happening birthday party.

* Sent Mr. Man on a mission to pick up a peacoat at an amazing price. (More on the tomorrow!)

Even though I am a city girl through and through, one thing that I definitely became accustomed to about living in suburbia is the quietness of the evenings.  All we hear here by the shore at night are the sounds of crickets. In NYC however, specifically where my mother lives, I was awoken every 30 minutes by the sound of the NYC Transit Bus approaching and departing from the stop across the street.  I also heard the firetrucks, police cars, and individuals arguing with each other as they walked by.  So, needless to say, I was happy to get a restful night's sleep after a fun filled weekend.

Hope everyone has a great week!

{Weekend Highlights} 10-17-10

Fall is my all time favorite season.

We have been  spending a lot of times outdoors ever since the brisk autumn weather has arrived.  There is just something so wonderful about donning a warm sweater or jacket and staring at the marvels Mother Nature has to offer us during the months of September, October, and November.

Many of my family's all time favorite family traditions take place during Autumn.  One of our favorites is visiting a pumpkin patch and picking pumpkins straight from the vines.  Each year, each of us goes in search of the perfect pumpkin.  We then bring them home, wash them off, and paint faces on them before setting them on our front porch as a decorative element.

This year I introduced a new "tradition"....corn mazing.  I knew once my Little Guy was old enough, that this would be something we would love to do.  The farm we go to has a 5 acres large corn maze.  We were given riddles with clues of which direction we need to go.  It was so much fun getting lost and going around in circles till we finally made it out.  Lil Diva said the moment we were done..."This is definitely something we have to do as a family tradition every year!"  And so an additional family tradition is added to our ever growing Autumn list.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

{Weekend Highlights} 10-10-10

Just stopping in for a quick hello!  Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Even though we had absolutely nothing planned....for a change, I enjoyed every minute of it.

* Spent an hour in a Starbucks cafe sharing a latte and just chatting with hubby.
* Visited my mother in law who just returned home after 4 months away.
* Got a case of the sillies with the family while driving.
* Cuddled on the couch with hubby to watch Deception.
*Reconnected with some dear old friends on Facebook I have lost touch with for over 15 years.
*Sat on my front porch with some magazines & soaked up the warm October sunshine.

Hope everyone has a great week! <3

{Weekend Highlights}

Is it Sunday evening already?

It seems as though I jumped on a carousel ride which hasn't stopped for over 6 weeks!  Finally, it has slowed down to a non-dizzying pace.  Thankfully!  The best part is, it's been well worth it.  Now, I can begin to relax and breathe again.

This weekend highlights:

*   Lil Diva performed for the very first time with a well known production company.  She did an amazing job, and as she said "was not even one bit nervous".

*   We always mark the official end of summer with a visit to our local seafood festival.  Although this year the visit was short and sweet, we were able to dine on our tried and true favorites: Sweet Potato Seafood Crab Cakes, and calamari.

*  Hubby and I went out for an early celebratory anniversary dinner to The Melting Pot.  Funny how you can spend 3 hours there and not even notice it.  We had an amazing time and left pleasantly stuffed.

Hope everyone had a delightful weekend!  Have a great week!

Weekend Wrap-up

Three Things I Loved About This Weekend:

1} The autumn weather!

I truly enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll along the streets of Central New Jersey just to simply enjoy the warm sun upon my face and the cool gentle breeze.

2} Wearing my MAC- The Prowl lipstick & my cheetah ballerina flats.

I thought these two were a perfect combination. I paired these with a pair of skinny jeans and a camel colored camp shirt.  The ballerina flats (which I bought on sale at Target.com for a mere $8) received a whopping 6 compliments from strangers.  I bought them as a trend piece for my wardrobe since cheetah and leopard is all the rage this season.  Since it is hard to say what will be "in" next year, I didn't want to spend loads of money on them.  I must add that they are incredibly comfortable.  I can't wait to wear them again!

 3} Happy Mail Day!

I finally received the new fall purse I purchased from ALDO a little over 2 weeks ago.  I admit, I was getting a bit worried.  The day I ordered Housh handbag, it was on a price reduction. ($19.98 from the original price of $42. I also used a coupon code so my final price was $16.98).  When I put through the order I did receive the confirmation the order was being processed, but when I visited the site a couple of hours later to show my sister, it said the bag was sold out. I learned not to get my hopes up because I was in a similar situation last year with a Calvin Klein gown I ordered which unfortunately 9 days later was notified it was no longer available.  After about a week from ordering the Aldo Housh, I pretty much succumbed to the thought the same thing had happened again since I never did receive a shipping confirmation.  Imagine my surprise when the postman came to my door with my new handbag!  It is perfect.
